Artra is run and owned by the Drag family, primarily a father-son team of Bernie and Tim Drag. The Drag family has a long history of creating Jarrah furniture, through Artra’s sister company, Arcadian Concepts.

Arcadian Concepts was established 15 years ago from humble beginnings in Perth under the name Mahogany Creek, and as the business grew it relocated to Narembeen in the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia.

Bernie, the master craftsman, taught son Tim (an engineer by trade with a Management background) the art of woodwork and it wasn’t long before Tim realised his passion resided with timber craft and that he could add refreshing new dimensions to the business. Tim, his wife and two young children re-located from Adelaide 4 years ago to join the business and have never looked back.

The family has enjoyed great success at Arcadian Concepts with their hand-crafted distinctive furniture, décor and giftware in Australian hardwoods, including Jarrah and Marri.  Beautiful tables, bookshelves, buffets, wine racks, chairs and outdoor furniture are just some of the products Arcadian Concepts specializes in.

Having mastered their craft of Australian hardwood furniture pieces and décor, Tim saw potential to expand the business to include kitchens and cabinets. Tim realised with Jarrah and Timber’s exquisite look and timeless appeal and his family’s superior craftsmanship, it was another beautiful product they could offer.

With a burning desire to get their kitchens and cabinets out to the market, in 2013 the Drag’s acquired Artra, a company with 30 years of history in producing and selling fine, hand-crafted Jarrah products. With such a solid history and understanding of Jarrah wood, Artra was the perfect vehicle for this new branch of the business.

Still keeping the tradition of the family’s Jarrah craftsmanship and Artra’s Jarrah history, today Artra specializes in hardwood kitchens and cabinetry, blended with the most modern of materials and finishes.
